Your After-school Program @ EMS

Academic Coaching- Positive In-person Social Interactions - Engaging Activities

Starting, May 10th till June 10th, 2021, The Zone will be offering special programming to support returning students with academic coaching, positive in-person social interactions, and engaging recreation for both the mind and body.

Program Details: 

  • Starting Monday, May 10, 2021, to Thursday, June 10th, 2021, we will be open every day EMS has a full day for a total of 22 sessions.
  • Our program starts at 2:31 and ends at 5:30 pm. We are unable to provide bussing home.
  • There are four sessions every day. 

A day at The Zone: Session Details

Session 1 - 2:31 to 3:30-  fun, socially engaging activity, location: outside around the building or in the Cafeteria. Every day we will have a different activity or focus: environmental nature walk, sports, sidewalk games, crafts, robotics, photography, cooking class, etc. Goal for Session 1:

  • Foster students re-connecting with peers.
  • Build and support positive, in-person, social interactions.
  • Reduce stress by engaging the body and mind in fun activities
  • Promote time away from a computer screen.
Session 2 - 3:30 to 3:50 Snack, provided by The Zone, Cafeteria. Goal for Session 2: To continue the positive connection with peers and staff.


Session 3 - 3:50 to 4:30 

Targeted Academic Coaching and Homework Help, except Fridays, Cafeteria, Goals for Session 3:
  • Provide targeted academic support with a focus on ELA on Mondays, Math on Tuesdays, Reading on Wednesdays, and Social Studies on Thursdays.
  • Provide assistance with work management, organization, and study skills.
  • Work closely with classroom teachers to support students when requested.
  • Foster self-motivation and commitment to high academic standards.

Session 4 4:30 to 5:30 Extra Academic Coaching or Physically Activity, Cafeteria or Gym - depending on the weather and interest. Some popular choices are badminton, basketball, football, jump rope, foursquare, scavenger hunts. Goals from Session 1-3 continue.

Fees: 

  • $440 for all 22 sessions - $20 per session - registration and payment by May 8 (50% discount for second student/sibling attending all 22 sessions)
  • $125 for a week with 5 days - $25 per session - registration and payment by Saturday night prior to the week attending. 
  • $100 for a week with 4 days - $25 per session - registration and payment by Saturday night prior to the week attending.
  • $28 for one session - registration 48 hours ahead of time.
